Laney Tipton was born and raised in Yancey County, and grew up watching her parents serve the community through the school and court systems. That early exposure to community service, combined with a lifelong passion for storytelling, led her to UNC-Chapel Hill, where she earned a degree in Journalism.

Laney built a career in marketing and strategic operations. Today, she serves as the General Manager of Capitol B, a strategic agency that partners with mission-driven organizations across the state to amplify their impact. With more than a decade of experience in business operations, project management, and strategic communications, Laney specializes in designing systems that turn big-picture vision into real-world results. She earned her MBA in December 2024 and brings both corporate expertise and deep local roots to her work.

Laney remains fiercely committed to the people and places that raised her, and brings that same heart to every effort Mountain Strong undertakes.

She lives in Knightdale with her husband Chris, their two young boys, and the world’s most patient brown dog.
